Designer Ginny Macdonald and Lulu and Georgia have reunited for a third collaboration, and the new line is called On Holiday. The collection follows her previous Topia line, which was inspired by towering topiaries she saw at her best friend’s wedding. A British-born, California-based designer, Macdonald is known for synthesizing cozy cottagecore interiors with light-filled coastal style, blending relaxed silhouettes with tailored elements. This time, she is pulling from a different natural source: the English rose.
Macdonald likens the new collection to a continuation of the forms and materials from her earlier work, but with even more of an emphasis on craftsmanship and small details. “With this collection, I wanted to introduce a softness that contrasted with Topia,” she said in a statement about the wood pieces. “The turnings were inspired by the deconstruction of an English rose, the heraldic badge associated with the county I’m from. The result feels more organic.” Macdonald herself is photographed sitting on the Darwen Accent Chair, one of the key pieces in the collection.

The designer’s British roots show up in subtle ways throughout the line. A tiny acorn motif appears on the pull-chain finials of the lighting — a small nod to the English oak, she notes. There’s also a double bullnose edge on the Newburgh case goods and the Hutton coffee table, which she calls “a treat for the eye.” Other pieces in the collection include the Middleton Chaise Sectional Sofa, which is complemented by the Bowland Round Coffee Table and the Ribchester Chandelier in promotional imagery. The Longton Mantel Mirror hangs over the Newburgh Sideboard, flanked by Farington Sconces, creating another coordinated vignette.
Macdonald is particularly chuffed about one new fabric in the collection: a linen blend in a mulberry hue. “It’s a beautiful purple-mauve tone that will be available on our Darwen sofa and side chair,” she says. “Even though it’s technically a color, I think of it as a neutral. It has a subtle heathered quality, so it doesn’t come off as a true solid tone.”

The collection spans a wide price range. Items start at a $95 marble picture frame and go up to an $8,000 skirted sectional. Other pieces include the Darwen Sofa, the Tarleton Accent Chair, and the Middleton Skirted Accent Chair. Additional options include the Middleton Chaise Sectional Sofa, Bowland Round Coffee Table, Ribchester Chandelier, Longton Mantel Mirror, Newburgh Sideboard, Farington Sconces, and Ribchester Floor Lamp.
In her own home, Macdonald has already started using pieces from the line. She has the Kirkham side tables as nightstands and the Morecambe bed in a sage green. “For my office, I’m planning to use the Kirkham dining table as a large desk and the Longton Oval mirror in the office bathroom,” she adds. “I’m excited to see how it comes together.”
