The songwriting partnership of John Lennon and Paul McCartney was actually working until the mid-60s, once they collaborated in many of their early songs. Their jamming on a piano collectively led to creation of their first best-selling hit ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’ in 1963. In November 1961, they invitedBrian Epstein to be their supervisor Art & Music, making a written agreement in January 1962. At that point McCartney and Harrison had been beneath 21, so the paper wasn’t technically legal, albeit it didn’t matter to them.
